I am a cultural anthropologist at Lake Tahoe Community College. I received my Ph.D. in 1998 from Rice University, and focused on the cultural politics of training at a major U.S. theme park. Since that time I have focused on the cultural significance of cultural remaking. Whether a theme park, a themed restaurant, a sensory experience in a lifestyle store, or a science fiction remake film, I am interested in the ways in which things are remade in the world. Appearing to be simple on the surface, I believe that cultural remaking is one of the most complex and potentially insightful issues of contemporary society. This page features my academic research as well as my pedagogical emphases. Have a look at the tabs on the top and I hope to hear from you. - Scott
